Pastors Steve and Esther on sabbatical

Pastors Steve and Esther will be on ‘sabbatical’ during the months of June, July and August.  It is the first time in over 30 years of leadership at All Nations, but like many organisations we feel the senior leaders especially need time to be refreshed, to reflect and to get ready for the next season.

We thank God for the strong teams we have in place!  While they are unavailable, our Hub Pastor, Andrew Mumo (andrew.mumo@allnations.org.uk), will continue to lead the teams.  Also, as Chair of Trustees, I will also be available to pick up issues that the various teams or individual members of All Nations need to raise.

Please pray that this will be a rich time of refreshing and revelation for our senior leaders!

Would you like to give towards some of the costs?  The sabbatical will include several times away from home - partly because it is a busy household but mainly to benefit from various opportunities for retreats and connections that will be inspiring and refreshing spiritually.  There will be extra costs of food, accommodation and travel.  If you would like to partner in this, you can give through the following giving form...

May God bless them as they step out of the normal activities into a time of refreshing … and may God bless All Nations as a result!

What is a sabbatical?

We all need to take time for refreshing, mainly recreation and relationships (with God and those close to us). That is why God gave His Old Testament people the sabbath in the Law - now under the New Covenant of the Spirit we can live in spiritual rest 24/7 but we still need to rest and refresh our bodies, minds and emotions if we are to be truly healthy and Spirit-led!
It is good to have some time each day and each week for this.  But it is also very valuable to have some longer time, maybe a holiday each year, and if possible a sabbatical every few years (some churches and organisations say every 7 or 10 years).  A sabbatical is usually a three to six month period to make sure there is not only proper rest but also opportunities for things that will stimulate and inspire the work int he next season.
